The Complete Kids From Rec Road

As a gift for the friends I made the comics with, I put together a hardback compilation of the stories we made together when we were kids. I think we started when I was twelve, and we carried on for a few years, producing over 200 pages of adventures starring ourselves and friends. You know what happened to me, but Peter also produces comics, including 'Stan and Jack' starring Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and 'The Infernal Gods Of Electric Disaster' about a rock band. David holds down a proper job...

The Complete Kids From Rec Road is available from Lulu.com for all you hardcore fans...

JLA Classified

Back on inking Jose Luis Garcia Lopez today. For the upcoming trade, Jose has redrawn the last few pages that I had to pencil to make the deadline on the JLA story we did. These pages will replace mine to make the trade look a lot better!

Vertigo

Here's part of a cover rough for the first cover of a new Vertigo series. I'm just doing the covers and I think it launches next year. It's been too long since I've done anything for Vertigo, and it's good to be back there working with my favourite editor.

We interrupt the scheduled program...

There was an article featuring me in the local paper today. This boy, James was on TV a few months ago on Junior Mastermind with his specialist subject of Marvel Comics. After reading about this in the paper I invited him around to see me and get some free comics. The paper did this little article about us... I don't know who the fat half asleep bloke in the photo is though.

28 Days Later

I'm working on my secret project this week so I can't show anything from that yet. Instead I thought I'd post a page every day from a short comic strip I drew for the film 28 Days Later. Alex Garland, who wrote the film, wrote this prologue to it to advertise the film in the weeks before it came out. The idea was to produce twenty seven pages of comics showing what happened in the 27 days before the beginning of the film. Unfortunately, due to a variety of reasons we only produced 7 pages and none of them saw print. I did get Alex to write me a Batman Black and White story which was cool though. So here's the first page...

Today's favourite panel...

More JLA Classified

Finished up the inks to Rick Leonardi's JLA Classified second issue today. He's done some amazing stuff, so fluid and stylised. This is my favourite panel today, because of the Martian Manhunter's torso. It's so abstract yet works so well...

7 Psychos inks

Here's the inks for that Seven Psychos page...
Now why don't you use that photo ref for the first panel and do your own version? The best one gets the satisfaction of a job well done...

The Kids From Rec Road

Haven't done anything from Seven Psychos worth showing today, so here's a really old piece from 1978.
Back then along with two friends, Peter Doree and David Holman, we made our own comics starring ourselves in various movie satires and original stories. Here's page from a Star Wars parody we did soon after seeing the film on it's original release. We did over 200 pages of these stories over a few years. I've recently been scanning and cleaning them up a little. This page was done when I'd just discovered using a dip pen to ink with...
